I still remember fondly the first day I visited the Mediterranean College campus and signed up for my studies as a Computer Networks and Security student. It was at that moment that I made a personal promise, to dedicate myself to this BSc degree and accomplish the best outcome that I could. I walked out of that door with an overwhelming auspicious feeling in me. A feeling that followed me throughout the following three years. That feeling helped me during the strenuous moments and subjects of my academic studies. It carried me on the few failures or missteps that I had, but also at the minor successes, always reminding me to keep my head down and keep on working.
I was elected as class president all three years of our studies, a responsibility that I took with great respect and with a view to improving student-faculty relations. There were some crucial challenges along the way but they were overcome and I like to think that the end result of the trust between teachers and students is a significant achievement, one that wouldn’t have been possible without the confidence that was placed on me by my colleagues and my professors alike.
My biggest achievement was when my colleagues and I were invited to participate at the Startup Garden of the Digital Health Conference among all the innovative medical smart applications, for a web app we had created a few months earlier for the Team Project subject at the college. I and one more of my peers had to assume leading roles into organizing our booth and presentation for this event, specifically how to handle and present our product. I had to create a press release leaflet for marketing purposes and also participate in public speaking events in order to promote our web app.
Recently our final results came back and I was informed that I had achieved the First Class Honours degree classification, which was an individual goal of mine and proof of the high academic standard I worked for to uphold during all these years.
Embarking on the next chapter of my life, I’m looking forward to the upcoming challenges that will present themselves to me and I feel strong enough to tackle them. This scholarship would be a great asset for me, in order to achieve my goal of accomplishing a broad extensive knowledge on the exponential field of computer networks and security. With me, the same indistinguishable auspicious feeling leading me into the future.
